There is a strong push for cellular standards in the space industry and it is apparent that commercial utilizations in a large scale is getting closer. However, this push entails significant technical challenges in terms of connectivity, backhaul integration and operational features.
5G will be transformational in many aspects of the satcom ecosystem from stimulating demand in many segments to seamlessly integrating satcom into the mainstream telco environment. 5G will become a major tool for optimizing satellite networks and operations.
Per Koch has 25+ years of experience in Technical Leadership, Business development and Program management in global organizations within the Electronic-, Telecommunication-, space- and IT industry. Since graduation Per has worked with technical development and architecture in several telecommunication and semiconductor companies. Past 20 years mainly in leadership positions in global telecom and intelligence enterprise organizations such as Texas Instruments and BAE Systems.
Per has since the past 5 years successfully headed more smallsat data communication missions with Gomspace A/S.
In the current position the experience from the telecommunication world and the experience from the space world are combined to secure advanced 5G communication products for the smallsat industry.
