Alex da Silva Curiel is a recognised expert on small satellite mission capabilities, markets and their applications, and has been involved in the small satellite revolution since 1989 working on over 60 small satellite missions. Alex holds a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a M.Sc. degree in Satellite Engineering from the University of Surrey, and is a member of the International Academy of Astronautics. He is the co-chair for the International Astronautical Congress small satellite symposium, and is a member of several conference technical and international committees. Alex has been employed by Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. since 1989 and currently is responsible for international business development, previously holding positions in communications systems engineering, systems engineering, Head of Research and Development, and as Group Technical Director. Alex is responsible for over 200 conference and journal publications, and has both led and supported various international panel discussions and specialist short courses.
